Year of the Dog - Air Force Ones (1s)

Year of the Dog Air Force Ones - Nike releases different shoes to celebrate holidays around the world. In chinese astrology this year (2006) is the year of the dog. To help celebrate this Nike released a very limited edition air force one in china and other select locations. Check out these hot limited edition year of the dog chinese astrology air force ones.

Air Jordan Dub Zeros

Air Jordan Dub Zeros are a special release from the signature line of Michael Jordan (Jumpman, a division of Nike, Inc) that celebrate the first 20 releases of the Air Jordan shoes. The jordan dub zeros are influenced a bit by each of the prior shoes released. You can see how the patent leather looks like the air jordan 11s, while the lazer etching also give them a very special and unique look.

Jay Z Sneakers & Shoes

Jay-Z of all rappers definitely has the most shoes attributed to him. Not only is Jay-Z the first ever non-athlete to get a shoe deal (S. Carter Collection released by Reebok) he also has several air force ones including two 40/40 club air force ones, the black album air force ones and rocafella air force ones. Adidas also released a rocafella Adidas Supreme for the music edition of their 35th anniversary. Check out all of these Jay-Z Air force Ones and the Adidas Rocafella shoes.

St. Patricks Day Air Force 1s

There were a lot of rumors about what the St Patrick's day air force ones would look like, the first reports out looked kinda shabby and didnt get too nice of a reception among sneaker fiends. Below is the first release that I can verify:

That style has been a bit played out as of late and im sure Nike just slapped that together to get some buzz in the communitty. But they ended coming through with something quite different and 10x better. A good marketing tactic? Nike listening to the sneaker communitty? A bunch of idiots gossiping over unproven facts? Either way im sure everyone agrees that these Sta Patty day air force 1s are real clean and Nike really scored big on these ones.

Check out these Holiday Air Force Ones for more air force ones that nike releases on different holidays around the world.

Adidas Century

These Adidas Sneakers are pretty brand spankin new, they're all white except the laces and the sole. Super clean, and as you can tell the laces are pretty funky. If you like Adidas Sneakers then these are a must have. Adidas is really coming on strong lately with the 35th anniversary kicks and the Music edition sneakers. I'm loving the Missy Elliot shoes and the Rocafella superstars. Here's another picture of these adidas century sneakers.

Nike Air Force 1s

Nike Air Force 1s - For my second post I thought I'd talk a bit about the timeless af1 sneakers. Much can be said in a very general sense about these sneakers - how long they've been around, my personal favorites, they're popularity among celebrities and popular culture, among other things - but rather then talking about the normal blah blah I thought I would make a post about some of the Air Force 1 resources online. You might talk with your buddies about the new kicks coming out, but this isn't 1981. You don't have to rely on old fashion media outlets to be up to date with what's coming out next. The internet provides us with a vast and valuable resource for collecting information on our favorite hobbies, if you are an Air Force 1 collector, then you're in luck. There are many websites dedicated to these sneakers where you can not only learn about previous releases, but also upcoming releases and preview what they will look like. Allow me to go through a list of sites I frequent and share my thoughts about them.

Uptowns.net - This website has a bunch of pictures of new air force ones that will be released in the near future, they scower the internet for you and bring you the latest releases before they hit the streets. But the thing I like most about this website is there communitty forum. You won't find a better message board that's complete with knowledgeable members and active posts.

PickYourShoes.com Air Force Ones This website is an online store, the reason I like their website is that they list a wide variety of air force ones from low cut, to mids, to high tops and even women's air force ones. The other reason I like this website is that they also offer a great selection of pictures. Many websites that retail af1s just have one or two pictures and they're an angle of the shoe that doesn't really say much. Well, this website has close up shots of all the boxes and different angles of the shoes. So if you ever want to know what the official colors of a certain release were, go to this website, locate the shoe, then look at the picture of the box.

OmarsKicks.com Air Force Ones - This website, although I'm pretty sure the shoes aren't authentic, they do manage to offer a lot of information about each release. Most of the air force ones listed on this website have a 2-3 sentence description about the shoe. So if you'd like to know a bit more about a air force one that was released, check out this website and check the descriptions.

Nike Air Force Ones - I'm not sure if this website ever updates, but they've got some great pictures of air force ones. The best gallery on this website is the collection of the Chamber of Fear Air Force 1s. But they also have many other pictures of shoes that are really sexy. If you like browsing through pictures and reading other people's opinions like I do, then you'll enjoy this website.

I'll be making more specific posts in the future about specific releases and such, but atleast now you know where I surf to get my information. As always, if you come accross something you think is noteworthy that I haven't posted about on here, then let me know and I'll be sure to consider it for a future post.

Air Jordan VI 6

Nike Air Jordan VI 6 Air Jordan IV 6 - It's only right that I start off the first real post on this blog with the shoe that started it all for me. For every young kid theres a time and point where he realized fashion is important. Doesn't mean every kid loves fashion, or wants to be in on the latest trends, it just means all kids realize it is important. Either you do a good job convincing your parents to get you
Michael Jordan's latest pair of shoes, or you end up getting teased for an entire year that you're still wearing K-Mart shoes. For me, I first fell in love with these shoes when I was in grade two.

I was still wearing sweat pants with the double layer on the knees, so needless to say I wasn't exactly a Nigo at this point. I was being forced to take piano lessons by my parents and my piano teacher had a son who was in grade 6 six and went to the same school as me. Obviously, I looked up to him. He was a cool kid, had lots of friends, and lots of cool stuff. After a couple of my weekly visits while my sister was doing her lessons, the piano teacher allowed me to go in her sons room with him and hang out a bit. He had micro machines, basketball cards, hockey cards, baseball cards, a TV in his room, a guitar, all kinds of cool stuff. But none of it compared to the sight of his shoes, sitting by the door of his room. This guy had the coolest shoes in the world, the Air Jordan VI.

That was it for me, he had turned me out into a sneaker fan for life. I told my parents I needed a new pair of shoes so badly. Being that it was mid year, they werent about to go out and head to the local K-Mart to buy me some new shoes. Afterall, back then I only got a new pair of shoes at the begining of each school year, so I was a bit crushed but I didnt have my hopes up too high cause I knew the chances were extremely thin to begin with. I started day dreaming about owning a pair of air jordan shoes. By the time the next school year rolled around, I had my plan layed out. I was going to convince my parents I, an 8 year old, needed a pair of $100+ shoes because I was under performing in gym class and couldnt keep up with my peers. The reason I chose this line of attack was simple, if my desire for high performance shoes was simply a matter of fashion and peer envy, I wouldnt stand a chance. In fact, I'd be told the storey about how my father had to walk to school with no shoes, up hill both ways.

As we were walking through the mall that summer, I convinced my parents not to hit the end of the tunnel (k-mart), instead, I convinced them it was best to atleast check out the boutique stores like Foot Locker and Champs and atleast see if the prices were reasonable. They reluctantly obliged. From here on in it was a tag team effort between me and the comission hungry salesmen to convince my parents that in todays world, an 8 year old child deprived of adequate athletic footwear, was in the least being denied an equal chance.. I even remember trying to equate it to child abuse since the soles on the K-Mart shoes would ware down by the end of the year.

Well, I'd love to end this storey by saying I ended up getting the fresh new Jordan VII's, but unfortunately my parents were not about to spend that much no matter how much me o the salesmen stressed the importance of it. This wasn't a complete loss though, I never did end up getting a pair of K-Mart shoes again. Instead, my parents agreed to get me the $60 Nike Air Flights in all black with a strap that said Nike in white. That year I was the meanest bully in school. I laughed at the poor (figuretively, although in heinsight they may have been poor) kids who had K-Mart shoes or, even worse, the same shoes from last year.

My parents continued to buy my shoes for me untill about grade 10. Between the ages of 8 and 15, I worked my parents all the way up to $130 for a pair of shoes. Yes, I am proud of this feat.
